Traffic Fatality Investigation 

February 22, 2026 – Modesto, CA – Modesto Police Department officials report that on Friday, February 20, 2026, at approximately 6:30 p.m., Modesto Police Department officers responded to a vehicle versus pedestrian crash on Pelandale Avenue just west of Prescott Road.

Preliminary information indicates the pedestrian was walking northbound along the canal and attempted to cross Pelandale Avenue when she was struck by a vehicle traveling eastbound in the number one lane. Sadly, the pedestrian, an adult female, did not survive her injuries.

The driver remained at the scene and is cooperating with the investigation. Both involved parties are from Modesto. Drugs and alcohol do not appear to be factors in this collision.
