March 12, 2026 - Sierra National Forest officials report the Sierra National Forest (SNF) will continue pile burning operations
today, Thursday, Mar. 12, at the Balsam Site Preparation Unit near Camp Sierra on Huntington Lake Road and FS8S47 Road. Prescribed burning fire management is estimated to continue through Mid-May or as weather conditions allow.

Residents and visitors near Shaver Lake, Camp Sierra, Big Cree and Huntington Lake, and surrounding mountain communities may see smoke and flames due to a prescribed burn.

If you see smoke or flames near the project area, please do not report it.
- VISIBILITY:
Smoke may be visible from Tollhouse Rd, Auberry Rd, Hwy 168, and the https://ALERTCalifornia.org camera network.

Please use caution when traveling nearby and watch for fire crews and equipment on the road.
SNF Fire Management officials work with California Air Resources Board and San Joaquin Valley Air Pollution Control District (SJVAPCD) smoke specialists to plan prescribed burns.
