March 13, 2026 – Mariposa County Library officials announce that they are officially offering Birding Backpacks! These backpacks are free to check out from any County library branch and are perfect for your next outdoor adventure.

They contain both adult and children's binoculars, interactive community logbooks, John Muir Law's Field Guide to the Sierra Nevada, Sibley's pocket field guide, a pencil case, two pencils, a pencil sharpener, and a tiny notebook to make observations in.

All that is required is a library card! The backpacks were launched yesterday evening at a bird presentation in Mariposa and will soon arrive to our branches within the next few days. To learn more, call 209-966-2140.
