Mariposa Miners bring home the Gold medal! 

March 17, 2026 – Article by Sarah Brewster – On Saturday, March 14, at Clovis North High School in Clovis, Mariposa's Special Olympics team, the Mariposa Miners, gathered with Fresno, Tulare, Kings and Merced Counties for an intense basketball competition.

The team faced three challenging games culminating in the final game with a commanding victory with a  score of 30 - 15.

Throughout the tournament, the team demonstrated remarkable defensive skills and impressive shooting abilities. Every player gave their best effort on the court, contributing to the team's overall success. The coaches - Head Coach David Wise, Coach Eileen Wise and Coach Sarah Brewster - were extremely proud of the players, not only for their outstanding performance but also for the sportsmanship they displayed throughout the competition. To celebrate their well-earned victory, the team enjoyed their favorite "celebration dinner" - pizza.
