April 7, 2026 – Merced County Sheriff's Office officials report that on April 4, 2026, at 9:30 p.m., Deputies responded to a residence on Dayton Avenue in Hilmar for a report of a stabbing. Deputies located the adult female victim, who was suffering from several stab wounds to the side of her chest and back. The victim was transported to a local area hospital and has since been released in stable condition.

Deputies identified the suspect as 22-year-old Alexis Martinez, who showed up at the victim’s residence trying to fight the victim over a past dispute. During an altercation, Martinez stabbed the victim multiple times before fleeing the scene.

Martinez was arrested at a residence in the 16600 block of Longview Avenue in Livingston. Martinez was booked into the Merced County Jail for attempted murder. This remains an ongoing investigation.
