April 16, 2026 – Mariposa County officials announce that what began as a community vision in the 2019 Mariposa Creek Parkway Master Plan has become a shovel-ready reality. Thanks to a grant from the Sierra Nevada Conservancy, the Mariposa County Planning Department now has completed designs and permits in hand for a 12.4-mile trail system, the culmination of many years of collaborative work.
This project brought together passionate community partners, including the Sierra Foothill Conservancy and the Southern Sierra Miwuk Nation, to create a trail network that truly reflects the values and needs of our community.
Once built, the system will feature:
- 4.52 miles of bike-only trails
- 3.17 miles of hike-only trails
- 0.81 miles of ADA-accessible and educational trails
- 4.1 miles of multiuse keystone trail
The project also includes new trailheads, improvements to the County Park, and connections to the future Mariposa Creek Parkway, slated to break ground this summer.
The County is now actively seeking funding to bring construction to life. Stay tuned — the trails are coming!
