1,000 Illegal Fireworks Seized Following an Arrest and Search Warrant
May 10, 2026 – Clovis Police Department officials report that the largest seizure of illegal fireworks in Clovis in several years was made earlier this week following a search warrant and arrest. On May 7, 2026, Clovis Police responded to a home in Old Town for a request to dispose of fireworks. An investigation by our Bomb Squad and officers discovered that a large amount of dangerous, illegal fireworks were being stored and possibly sold from the home.
The investigation led officers to a home in Fresno where a search warrant was conducted the same afternoon. During the search, Bomb Squad members located a large amount of illegal fireworks, some appearing to be homemade. These types of illegal fireworks can be volatile and unstable as they are typically manufactured without safety regulations or professional training. In total, approximately 1,000 illegal fireworks with a street value of over $50,000 were seized to be safely disposed of, along with other supplies and evidence. Officers arrested 28-year-old Nickolas Cropper of Clovis for several charges, including felony child endangerment, and charges related to the possession, transportation, and sale of illegal fireworks.
Illegal, explosive, and aerial fireworks are dangerous and every year they cause fires and injuries. With the Fourth of July quickly approaching, the Clovis Police Department reminds our community to leave the big fireworks to the professionals and to use safe and sane-labeled fireworks safely.
