May 18, 2026 – Mariposa County Library officials announce their upcoming Summer Reading Program kickoff event.

We are happy to announce our annual Summer Reading Program will start on Saturday, June 6. The library will be hosting its kickoff event on the Courthouse lawn, right next to our building at 4978 10th Street.

It will take place from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon.

The theme this year is "Unearth a Story." This program is for youth ages 18 and below.

Come register at the event and receive a free goody bag, take part in dino-themed activities such as digging for fossils, face painting, geode cutting, a selfie station, bubbles, dinosaur races, and more. It is all free.

Throughout the summer, kids can earn prizes by reaching certain reading benchmarks. To learn more about how your branch is participating, please contact your community library.
