May 19, 2026 - WASHINGTON, DC – U.S. Senator Jacky Rosen (D-NV) joined the entire Senate Democratic caucus in introducing a resolution affirming that the abortion medication, mifepristone, is safe and effective. The resolution came as the Supreme Court’s initial administrative stay in Louisiana v. FDA was set to expire — which would have allowed the Fifth Circuit’s ruling to go into effect, threatening millions of women’s access to mifepristone, even in states where abortion is legal. The Supreme Court eventually ruled to extend the stay until the case makes it fully through the legal process, allowing mifepristone to remain available via telehealth.

“Mifepristone has been used safely and effectively for decades and restricting access unnecessarily puts women’s lives at risk. This is another example of Trump and extreme Republicans trying to restrict a woman’s right to make her own health care decisions,” said Senator Rosen. “While this case makes its way through the legal process, I will do everything that I can to ensure access to mifepristone. I will always fight to protect women’s reproductive rights.”

Senator Rosen continues to fight to support women’s reproductive freedom. She voted to overturn the Trump Administration’s extreme rule ending life-saving abortion counseling and reproductive care for veterans. Senator Rosen also helped introduce the Women’s Health Protection Act to enshrine Roe protections in federal law and restore women’s reproductive freedom.  Last Congress, Senator Rosen helped introduce the Right to Contraception Act, aimed at federally guaranteeing the right to obtain and use contraceptives and shielding providers who prescribe and offer them.
