Deputies Arrest Stabbing Suspect in Prather 

May 22, 2026 – Fresno County Sheriff’s Office officials report that shortly before 9:00 a.m. on Thursday, Fresno FCSO Prather GallegosCounty Sheriff’s dispatchers received a call about a stabbing taking place in the parking lot of the Prather Post Office, located at 29460 Auberry Road.  Deputies arrived and found a man in his mid-40s with a severe stab wound.  A medical helicopter responded and transported the victim to the hospital where he is listed in critical condition.  Medical personnel have since stabilized his injuries.

Deputies on scene developed information about a possible suspect, 75-year-old Theodore Gallegos of Prather.  Deputies eventually found Gallegos and placed him under arrest.  He has been booked into the Fresno County Jail on a charge of assault with a deadly weapon.  His bail is set at $20,000.

The investigation shows the two men know each other. They became involved in a fist fight in the parking lot and Gallegos ultimately used a knife to stab the other man.
