Silver Alert: Search Underway for Missing 83-Year-Old 

June 13, 2026 – Placer County Sheriff’s Office and Search and Rescue teams were actively PCSO missing John Liebhausersearching the Colfax area on Friday for 83-year-old John Liebhauser, who has been missing for several days.

John was last in contact with family several days ago and was reported missing after neighbors became concerned when they had not seen or heard from him. His vehicle and phone were later located at his residence in Colfax.

Search and Rescue volunteers are searching areas in and around Colfax on Friday, including locations John is known to frequent. John enjoys walking and hiking in the area and is known to visit Stephens Trail. Among the search crews are also two scent tracking dog teams.

At this time, investigators are also actively working the case, reviewing surveillance video and following up on leads that may help determine John’s whereabouts. While search efforts are underway, there is currently no evidence indicating where John may have gone, and investigators do not have a confirmed starting point for search operations.

  • 83 years old
  • 5’11” tall
  • Approximately 175 pounds
  • Blue eyes
  • Gray hair
