Active Major Crimes Investigation

June 22, 2026 – Stanislaus County Sheriff's Office officials report that they are conducting an active investigation in the area of 9th Street and River Road in the unincorporated area of Modesto.

Deputies responded to the area following reports of an assault. Based on the nature of the incident, detectives with the Sheriff's Office Major Crimes Unit have assumed responsibility for the investigation.

Motorists should expect traffic delays and are encouraged to avoid the area while investigators continue processing the scene.

The suspect has not been located, and investigators are actively working to identify and apprehend the individual responsible. We ask community members to remain vigilant, be aware of their surroundings, and report any suspicious activity to law enforcement.
