Heading Outdoors this 4th of July? Know Before You Go! 

June 26, 2026 – CAL FIRE Madera-Mariposa-Merced officials issue a reminder that fireworks are ILLEGAL in Mariposa County, Madera County (East of the Madera Canal), and anywhere within the Sierra and Stanislaus National Forests and that includes sparklers, roman candles, fire balloons, and more.

Violations can mean up to a $1,000 fine and a year in county jail. Possession of large quantities could mean a felony charge with up to 3 years in state prison and $50,000 in fines.
