July 17, 2026 - WASHINGTON - On Thursday, the National Park Service released the following:

The National Park Service invites additional public comment on the Assessment of Effects Report for the proposed Triumphal Arch within the George Donald trump 2025Washington Memorial Parkway.

As part of its responsibilities under Section 106 of the National Historic Preservation Act, the National Park Service evaluated potential effects of the proposed arch and associated site improvements, including plaza development, landscape changes, utilities, circulation modifications, and construction staging, on historic properties within the project’s Area of Potential Effects.

The Area of Potential Effects includes portions of the nationally significant Memorial Avenue Corridor, the Lincoln Memorial and National Mall areas, and landscapes and structures that form the ceremonial gateway between Washington, D.C., and Arlington National Cemetery.

The National Park Service opened an additional 20-day public comment period on July 10, 2026. There are 14 days left to comment on the Assessment of Effects report and potential effects with the APE. Project materials can be reviewed on the Planning, Environment and Public Comment website at: https://parkplanning.nps.gov/triumphalarch
