Lane & Ramp Closures on State Routes 99, 140 & 165 for July 19-25, 2026 

July 18, 2026 – Merced County – The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) will have traffic controls in place for the following construction and maintenance activities on State Routes 99, (SR-99) SR-140 & SR-165 in Merced County this week. Work is scheduled to occur as follows:

State Route 99

  • One way traffic control on SR-99 northbound at East Atwater over-crossing for utility work beginning on Monday July 20, to Thursday July 24, 2026, from 9 a.m. to 4 pm.
  • Full off-ramp closure on southbound SR-99 at Hammatt Ave Over-Crossing for work beginning on Monday, July 20, through Wednesday, July 23, 2026, from 7:30 a.m. to 4:15 p.m.
  • Full on-ramp closure on southbound SR-99 at Winton Parkway Over-Crossing for work beginning on Sunday, July 19, through Friday, July 24, 2026, from 10:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m.
  • Full off-ramp closure on northbound SR-99 at Winton Parkway Over-Crossing for work beginning on Sunday, July 19, through Friday, July 24, 2026, from 8:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m.
  • Full on-ramp closure on southbound SR-99 at Collier Over-Crossing for work beginning on Sunday, July 19, through Friday, July 24, 2026, from 8:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m.
  • Full on-ramp closure on northbound SR-99 at Shanks Rd Over-Crossing for work beginning on Sunday, July 19, through Friday, July 24, 2026, from 8:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m.
  • Full on-ramp closure on southbound SR-99 at Shanks Rd Over-Crossing for work beginning on Sunday, July 19, through Friday, July 24, 2026, from 10:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m.

State Route 140

  • Full highway closure on SR-140 at SR-33 TO Sixth Ave/Fourth St for special event on Sunday, July 19, 2026, from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.

State Route 165

  • Full highway closure on SR-165 at Geer Ave for electrical work beginning on Thursday, July 23, through Saturday, July 25, 2026, from 9:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m.
  • One-way traffic control for northbound and southbound SR-165 on Geer Ave for electrical work on Thursday, July 23, through Saturday, July 25, 2026, from 9:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m.
  • One-way traffic control for southbound SR-165 from August Ave to Third St for utility work on Sunday, July 19, through Friday, July 24, 2026, from 10:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m.

Motorists should expect 5-to-10-minute delays and use alternate routes whenever possible. All work is scheduled to occur as listed but is subject to change due to traffic incidents, weather, availability of equipment/materials, and construction-related issues.
