Have You Seen This Missing Person
July 22, 2026 – Tuolumne County Sheriff's Office officials report that on July 18, 2026, at approximately 12:10 p.m., a concerned community member reported a suspicious white Toyota 4Runner parked near O'Byrnes Ferry Bridge on the Tuolumne County side of Lake Tulloch. A Tuolumne County Sheriff's Office (TCSO) deputy responded and searched the immediate area for the vehicle's owner but was unable to locate anyone. At that time, the vehicle's registered owner, Lydia Suzanne Vanolden, had not been reported missing.
On July 19, 2026, the TCSO received a Be-On-the-Lookout (BOL) from the Modesto Police Department regarding Vanolden, who had been reported by family as an at-risk missing person through their agency.
After confirming that the vehicle located on July 18 belonged to Vanolden, TCSO deputies returned to the area and conducted an expanded ground search of the surrounding terrain and shoreline. During this, the Calaveras County Sheriff's Office Boating Unit searched Lake Tulloch and the shoreline from the water. Despite these search efforts, Vanolden was not located.
On July 20, 2026, TCSO deployed a drone to conduct an aerial search of the area surrounding where the vehicle had been found, including nearby trails and shoreline. The TCSO Boating Unit also searched Lake Tulloch using sonar technology. Additionally, the Calaveras County Sheriff's Office Boating Unit was requested, and they deployed an underwater Remotely Operated Vehicle (ROV) to assist in the search.
Despite the search efforts of all involved agencies, Lydia Suzanne Vanolden has not yet been located.
