Start Smart Class 

September 9, 2026 – Oakhurst CHP officials announce upcoming Start Smart driver safety class offered on Friday, September 18, 2026.

If you have a teen driver or soon to be driver in the house, sign up for our upcoming Start Smart driver safety class. This free, interactive program is designed for newly licensed or soon-to-be-licensed teen drivers and their parents, focusing on defensive driving, collision prevention, the realities of distracted and impaired driving, and what to expect during a traffic stop.

Please note: At least one parent or guardian is required to attend the class with the student. Possible discount on insurance for attending!
