September 12, 2026 – Sonora Police Department officials report that on September 3rd, 2026, at 1:00 P.M., an officer observed 44-year-old Kristy Lee Smith of Sonora walking on S. Washington Street. The Officer recognized Smith from prior law enforcement contacts and knew she had warrants for her arrest.

The Officer stopped Smith and placed her under arrest on the outstanding warrants. After her arrest, a search of Smith revealed a fully concealed fixed-blade knife, hypodermic needles, a glass methamphetamine pipe, pepper spray, and a prescription pill bottle not belonging to Smith.

Smith was arrested and booked at the Tuolumne County Jail for carrying a concealed dirk or dagger, narcotic addict in possession of pepper spray, possession of prescription drugs without a prescription, possession of drug paraphernalia, and her warrant.

It’s important to remember that the individuals mentioned in this report were arrested based on suspicion of the crimes they’ve been charged with. All such charges are mere allegations, and all defendants are considered innocent until proven guilty.
