September 25, 2026 – Kern County Sheriff’s Office officials report that on September 19, 2026, deputies from the Taft, Buttonwillow, and Frazier Park Substations executed a search warrant in the 28100 block of Dustin Acres Road. The warrant was issued as part of an investigation into a criminal threat incident in which a firearm was discharged at a residence.

During the service of the warrant, deputies located Mauro Galvan, 52, of Taft at the property. A search of the residence resulted in the discovery of several AR 15 style rifles, multiple handguns, and large quantities of ammunition.

Galvan was arrested on a Ramey warrant as well as open charges. He was booked into the Lerdo Justice Facility for the following violations:

P.C. 246.3(a) Discharge of a firearm in a grossly negligent manner

P.C. 422 Criminal threats

P.C. 32310(a) Possession of a large-capacity magazine

P.C. 30605(a) Possession of an assault rifle

P.C. 29180(c) Possession of an unregistered firearm

The Kern County Sheriff’s Office reminds the public that the negligent discharge of firearms poses a serious threat to community safety. The investigation remains ongoing.
