Fatal Dirt Bike Collision – Dry Creek Trail
October 9, 2026 – Modesto Police Department officials report that on October 7, 2026, at approximately 9:53 p.m.,
Modesto Police officers responded to a reported collision involving two dirt bikes on the Dry Creek Trail behind the 900 block of Edgebrook Drive.
The preliminary investigation indicates a group of individuals were riding dirt bikes along the trail between Moose Park and Thousand Oaks Park when two riders collided head-on in the darkness.
Following the collision, witnesses immediately began rendering aid, including CPR, until officers arrived and took over lifesaving efforts. One rider, a 66-year-old male, sustained critical injuries and was transported to a local hospital, where he was later pronounced deceased. His identity is being withheld pending notification of next of kin.
The second rider, a 48-year-old male, sustained moderate injuries and was transported to a local hospital for treatment.
The circumstances surrounding the collision remain under investigation.
