K9 Sonic Released from the Hospital

October 18, 2026 – Placer County Sheriff’s Office officials report that they are pleased to share that K9 Sonic was released from Loomis Basin Veterinary Clinic on Saturday and is heading home to continue his recovery.

After being shot by an armed suspect during yesterday’s incident, Sonic was rushed to the clinic, where he received emergency surgery and exceptional care. This morning, he was even able to stand and walk out of the clinic.

We extend our heartfelt thanks to the entire team at Loomis Basin Veterinary Clinic for their care of Sonic. We’re also grateful to the K9 teams from across the region who came together today to show their support as Sonic headed home.
