The Mariposa United Methodist Church is currently raising money for the 26th year of Camp Win Johnson. Church Pastor Ginger Foster relates how “fundraising is essential to the program because the vast majority cannot afford the cost of camp.” This year the Vacation Bible School has the theme of Hero Central: Discover Your Strength in God. The Camp provides the opportunity for children and youth to enjoy a beautiful mountain nature camp.
This year the camp organizers have planned three community fundraising events to help fund this local annual children’s ministry. Each will take place at the Church at 4991 6th Street, in downtown Mariposa.
There will be a Rummage Sale on Friday, March 3rd from 8 a.m. - 5 p.m. and Saturday, March 4th from 8 a.m. - 2 p.m. The rummage sale has something for everyone with great prices. On Sunday, April 2nd at 4:00 p.m. there will be a silent auction followed by delicious BBQ Chicken Dinner and a talent show. It costs $8 for adults and children 8th grade and under are $4, family is $25. Same day tickets will be limited, so call the church office to get yours in advance. The third fundraiser is another Rummage Sale featuring high quality and reasonably priced items. It will be on Friday, May 12th 8 a.m. - 5 p.m. and Saturday, May 13th 8 a.m. - 2 p.m.
If you have any items you would like to donate to the church rummage sale happening in May, bring them to the church Monday through Friday starting mid-March from 9 a.m. – 12 noon or on Saturday, April 29th from 10 a.m. - 2 p.m.”
