Donald Davis Returns for the 29th Mariposa Storytelling Festival

Donald Davis

Hilarious with a little piety thrown in, that’s an apt description of the stories that Master Storyteller, author and retired pastor Dr. Donald Davis has in store for you at the Mariposa County Arts Council's, 29th annual Mariposa Storytelling Festival to be held March 11 – 13, 2016, in the delightful old township of Mariposa.  Mr. Davis, known as the Father of Family Stories and the Dean of Storytelling, takes his audiences on humorous, hair-raising and exciting adventures of growing up in the Appalachian mountains of North Carolina to a favorite tale of the dazzling heights and scary depths of a trip down into the Grand Canyon. Come, listen and hold on to your seats while you are transported to first one then another Davis tale.

Donald is a strong advocate of storytelling; not just the profession, but also storytelling in everyday life. He feels that we connect with one another through the stories that we tell each other across the family dinner table. He believes that stories are really about identity, about who we are, and that technology may be all about moving information, but it is in our stories and wisdom that is passed down to other generations.
