April 4, 2022 – 3 Viewpoints of the Hospital’s Measure ‘O’.

1) What will a yes vote on Measure ‘O’ cost you? Lets say you spend $800 a month on taxable things in Mariposa County. That seems a little high to me. But the 1% additional sales tax will cost you $8 a month or about $96 a year . That’s less than a cup of coffee once a week at Happy Burger. Will that really wreck your wallet? As a tourist area most of those taxes will be paid by visitors.

2) What would the loss of the Hospital mean to Mariposa? The loss of more than 200 skilled people. They will leave this area for good jobs elsewhere. We will also loose their 12 million dollars in spending power. EVERY business and organization will suffer. Consider losing maybe 20% of the businesses and services. This town would never recover.

3) What would loss of the Hospital mean to you? Surely you’ve had a family member or friend that really needed the ER - maybe even yourself. I know I have needed it several times as well as most of my family members. Does anyone go through their life without some serious health issue? Think about where you’d go for help? What if the additional 1% in taxes saved the life of someone you know?

What if that was someone very dear to you? What if the life that was saved was yours? Our ER saves countless lives every year.
