AT&T Deploys Mobile Cell Site and Customer Support to Help Keep Communications Flowing at Command Site

July 20, 2017 - MARIPOSA, CA. —  AT&T* deployed its Emergency Response Team to assist first responders, and members of the community who have been evacuated from their att detwiler fire mariposa county 1homes due to the Detwiler Fire. AT&T has deployed a mobile cell site called Satellite Cell on Light Truck (or Sat COLT) to the Mariposa County Fairgrounds to provide communications support at the Detwiler Fire Command Site. The location is hosting Cal Fire first responders, who are leading the Detwiler fire response. The wildfire has burned more than 45,000 acres of forest land so far in the western edge of Yosemite National Park near the town of Mariposa.

AT&T’s Sat COLT provides cellular service in the deployment area, and is targeted to support those working in the command site to help keep communications flowing. As a self-contained mobile cell site, a Sat COLT can be quickly set up to replace lost capacity from a damaged permanent site, or as in this case, provide supplemental cellular capacity to an area experiencing an increase in demand. The deployment is being staffed by AT&T’s California Field Operations team members.

In addition, AT&T’s Emergency Response Team is on site at the two evacuation sites listed below to provide charging stations, and water, as well as phones and tablets for people to use on site to reach out to their loved ones.
