fstop-logoThe Mariposa County Arts Council is thrilled to continue the F/STOP photography program aimed at Mariposa residents over the age of 55. This program consists of a series of free, 4-week digital photography classes focused on the artistic elements of photography and is designed to promote creativity, self-expression, and increase comfort with digital technology. New this year, in addition to offering introductory classes, there will also be classes for returning participants who wish to further explore the art of photography while beginning to build a body of personal work. Images from all the classes will be included in an exhibition at the Arts Council’s Treetop Gallery and an online gallery on the Arts Council’s website. Anyone with an interest in photography is encouraged to attend. For the introductory class, no prior experience with photography is required.

Classes will be held at three partnering locations in Mariposa County -- the Mariposa Senior Activity Center, the Mariposa County Library, and the Red Cloud Library in Greeley Hill. The Mariposa Senior Activity will host two introductory classes and one class for returning participant. The first introductory class will be held November 7, 14, 21, and December 5 from 1:30 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. The second introductory class will be held December 12, 19, January 2, and 9 from 1:30 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. The class for returning participants will be held February 13, 20, 27, and March 6 from 1:30 p.m. to 3:00 p.m.

Two introductory classes and one class for returning participants will also be held at the Mariposa County Library. The first introductory class will be held November 10, 17, 24, and December 1 from 2:00 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. A second introductory class will be held December 8, 15, 29, and January 5 from 2:00 p.m. to 3:30 p.m.  The class for returning participants will be held January 12, 26, February 2, and 9 from 2:00 p.m. to 3:30 p.m.

An introductory class will be held at the Red Cloud Library in Greeley Hill on November 5, 12, 19, and December 3 from 1:30 p.m. to 3:00 p.m.

These classes are offered free of charge and the Arts Council provides all the necessary equipment.
