March 13, 2018 - On Tuesday morning on Megyn Kelly TODAY the show spotlights the Mariposa County High School drama club, and how they give back to their community.

“Rise” star Damon J. Gillespie announces that the club is receiving a surprise $10,000 grant from NBC’s Rise America Program, which is being doubled by NBC Entertainment.

The $10,000 grant from NBC TV to broadcast a play written and directed by the school's drama teacher Brian Starchman....the play is about the Detwiller fire as viewed by two animals.

Displaced: An Animal Adventure


MCHS Drama Club presents Displaced: An Animal Adventure written and directed by Bryan Starchman.

During the Detwiler Fire two small dogs get left behind during last summer's evacuation and go on a journey to find their people with the help of the local forest animals. This one-act play will touch your heart and is aimed at family audiences.

After intermission get ready to dance to your favorite local bands.

-Friday night will feature Adam Burns and Kristin Ramsey of Bootstrap Circus.

-Saturday night will feature The Jespersons

-Sunday matinee will feature Cottonwood Creek.

Also featuring MCHS Dance Club and animal art work created by students using the actual charcoal left behind by the fire.

All tickets are just $5 and all profits benefit the Mariposa Community Foundation.
