Thanksgiving is just a few weeks away, with the Christmas Holiday Season just beyond that.  Supermarkets are already luring customers with all sorts of holiday “Specials”, many based on volume or “buy one, get one free”.  Party planning also might involve a trip down to one of the major discount chains in the valley.  While “free” turkey offers have been scarce in recent years, sales and special offers still abound.  It is the perfect time to pick up something to contribute to the Coulterville Community Club’s Free Holiday Dinner!

Last year we served about 425 meals.  This year, Gold Tooth Lil (aka Cheryl Shores) is gathering food and supplies for about 450 guests.  Some community members have already stepped forward, so she has been able to check off sweet potatoes (including prep) but many, many more items are needed, especially turkeys and hams (cooked preferred) as well as most of the other goodies and ingredients… cranberry sauce, brown sugar, butter, deserts, punch, cider, etc.  Cash donations are always welcome and used to fill in needed items.  Please give her a call at 209-878-3834 or at her home at 209-878-3122, email her at: goldtoothlilsmercantile@gmail.com or stop by Lil’s on Main St. in Coulterville and she can go over what she needs with you, as the list keeps changing daily.

Christmas in Coulterville Takes Place Saturday, December 20th

The CCC’s Holiday dinner is a cornerstone of Christmas in Coulterville, happening this year on Saturday, December 20th.  The Rebekahs will have a holiday breakfast that morning, Santa arrives at noon, traveling down Main St, escorted by a fire engine or two or three to the Firehouse for the Fire Brigade’s Gift Giveaway. The afternoon is filled with a performance of the Gold Country Singers at the Methodist church, the community dinner at the Old Schoolhouse and storytelling for the kiddies back at the IOOF.  All the activities are free… to year-round residents, seasonal residents, family, friends and tourists who want to experience an old fashioned Christmas.  Everyone is welcome!  A complete schedule, with times and locations will appear in the December issue.
