July 19, 2018 - The Glacier Point Road in Yosemite National Park will be closed to the public beginning at 10:00 pm Thursday night, July 19, 2018 until further notice.
Fire fighting resources and activities involved in the nearby Ferguson Fire have necessitated the need for a small base camp located at the Yosemite Ski and Snowboard area as well as the Bridelveil Creek Campground.
The road closure is to ensure there are no conflicts with park visitors and the extra fire traffic, as well as the possibility of helicopter operations in the immediate area.
The gate at Chinquapin for the Glacier Point road will be shut and locked at 10:00 pm Thursday night. Beginning sometime Friday morning, it will be staffed to ensure fire traffic can come and go without visitor vehicles entering the roadway.
