TRAFFIC ADVISORY
END OF LONG-TERM HIGHWAY CLOSURE
STATE ROUTE 140 NOW OPEN THROUGHOUT MARIPOSA COUNTY
TO THE YOSEMITE NATIONAL PARK ENTRANCE

cal trans logo transAugust 7, 2018 - MARIPOSA COUNTY – The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) has opened eastbound and westbound State Route 140 (SR-140) for approximately 21 miles from the end of the climbing lane to the Yosemite National Park entrance.

This stretch of SR-140 had been closed due to wildfire. However, the SR-140 entrance to Yosemite remains closed, as do the Yosemite entrances from SR-120 (Tuolumne County) and SR-41 (Mariposa County).

According to the Sierra National Forest, the fire had surpassed 94,300 acres at 43 percent containment as of the morning of Tuesday, August 7, 2018.

Yosemite announced earlier this week that Yosemite Valley, Wawona Road, the Mariposa Grove of Giant Sequoias, the Merced Grove of Giant Sequoias, Hetch Hetchy, and other areas will remain closed indefinitely to all visitors. Yosemite Valley employees and residents have been evacuated due to firefighter activity along roadways, and road hazards. Tioga Road and Tuolumne Meadows are open and accessible from the east (U.S. Route 395).

For up-to-the-minute road conditions 24 hours per day, call 1 (800) 427-ROAD.
