March 2015 - Sacramento - The California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation (CDCR) and the California Arts Council are seeking arts organizations to work for the second year of a rehabilitative arts pilot program at prisons statewide.

Arts-in-Corrections programs can offer an array of performing, literary and visual arts disciplines, such as theater, music, creative writing, poetry, painting, drawing and sculpture.

The state's Arts-in-Corrections two-year pilot program is made possible by CDCR, which committed $2.5 million to add structured, contracted Arts-in-Corrections programs in selected state prisons. The program is administered by the California Arts Council. Both CDCR and the California Arts Council have a long history of providing arts programs in correctional facilities.

The California Arts Council is seeking providers beginning March 19, 2015. Interested arts organizations will be considered through an open Request for Proposal (RFP) process. Proposals must be received by May 12, 2015.

The California Arts Council and CDCR will conduct a webinar for interested parties on Thursday, April 2, 2015 at 2 pm.
