Award winning Oregon pianist John Nilsen will be performing at the Mariposa United Methodist Church on Saturday, August 16, 2014 at 2 p.m. This concert will be a fundraiser for Mariposa Open Arms. Last year’s concert was AMAZING! This concert is one not to be missed. There is a $10 - $15 suggested donation at the door. John has performed in all fifty states and continues to regularly perform throughout the United States, Europe and Asia. He has a devout following and with his international distribution, his popularity continues to grow.  Famed guitarist Guthrie Thomas is credited with launching Nilsen’s music career twenty-nine years ago.

His music covers a wide range of styles such as jazz, folk, rock, and sometimes his classical piano lessons from his youth have helped him create a distinct mood to his original music. Some of his original music has been influenced by the Beatles, Pat Metheny Group, Bruce Cockburn, Neil Young and many traditional hymnals he learned in his youth.
