July 23, 2022 - Merced – On July 19, 2022, at approximately 10:13 P.M., Merced Police Officers responded to the area of 12th and G Street in Merced after receiving multiple calls of shots fired. Officers located a 32-year-old man who was suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. The victim was transported to a regional trauma center where he remains in stable condition.
Officers canvassed the area for evidence and located a cellular telephone in the crime scene. Detectives began following up on the case and determined the cellular telephone belong to 27-year-old Edwardo Lee Munoz. Munoz is a documented gang member and a rival to the victim in this case.
On July 22, 2022, Detectives and Gang Unit Officers served a search warrant at Munoz residence in Merced. Munoz was located and taken into custody without incident. He was booked into the Merced County Jail for attempted homicide, assault with a deadly weapon, carrying a concealed firearm, infliction of great bodily injury and gang enhancements.
