Scattered thunderstorms are expected across Washington and the Northern Rockies area today. A fire weather watch is in effect for portions of western/northern Nevada and northeast California due to forecast dry and windy conditions on Saturday. And a heat advisory continues in western Washington.
The significant wildland fire potential forecasts represent the cumulative forecasts of the ten Geographic Area Predictive Services units and the National Predictive Services unit. The National Significant Wildland Fire Potential Outlook is updated monthly and posted on the National Interagency Coordination Center (NICC) predictive services page.
Isolated to scattered mainly wet thunderstorms are expected from north-central Washington into the northern Idaho Panhandle and across much of Montana into Wyoming, and a few severe storms are possible. Scattered wet monsoonal thunderstorms will continue across southeast California, the southern Great Basin, Colorado Rockies, and Southwest. Above normal temperatures will continue across northern California and northern Great Basin north into the Columbia Basin, with afternoon relative humidity falling to 6-20% and locally gusty winds possible. Scattered showers and thunderstorms are likely across the Great Lakes into the Mid-Mississippi Valley ahead of a cold front. Scattered to numerous showers and thunderstorms will continue across south Texas into the Lower Mississippi Valley and Southeast, with the heaviest rain and potential flooding across Louisiana and Mississippi.
