November 2, 2022 – Early Tuesday morning, a sergeant patrolling in the area of the Wigwam Road in Jamestown noticed a man driving a pickup truck and ran the license plate. The records check revealed the pickup was reported stolen out of Merced. The sergeant and deputies conducted a high-risk traffic stop, ordering the man inside of the truck with directions to exit the truck, where he was safely hand cuffed.
The man provided deputies with a name and California Driver's License (CDL) number which deputies determined through investigation belonged to a different person. When questioned about his identity, the man, later identified as 29-year-old Jose Silveira-Teixeira, continued to provide the false identity.
Silveira-Teixeira was arrested and transported to the Dambacher Detention Center (DDC) where fingerprints revealed his true identity. A record check of Silveira-Teixeira showed he had two out of county felony warrants for his arrest. Silveira-Teixeira was booked on charges of possession of stolen property, false impersonation of another, two felony warrants, and driving on a suspended or revoked license.
