December 26, 2022 - Fresno County Sheriff's Office share a heartwarming tale of a Christmas story involving a Grinch type crime.

Riverdale Man Shows Cruel Misbehavior, But Deputies Prove to be Christmas Saviors

It happened one morning in the town of Riverdale,

On Feland Avenue is where one man’s mind would grow stale,

From the front yard he stole an inflatable grinch,

It was humongous, but he still took it in a cinch.

Video would show the thief flee in a car,

Down the street he would go, but not too far.

He stopped at a home on Garfield to make a deal,

Offering it up for 40 bucks; the resident thought what a steal.

Oh he was right, but not wanting to think it could be tied to a crime,

He paid the crook, how could he be so blind?

Deputies searched and found it inflated atop the home,

They knocked on the door and contacted the man, whom we will just call Ramon.

He came up with a story, but it was obviously a lie,

What did he think, deputies were investigating for their very first time?

It didn’t take long for Ramon to come clean,

He said he bought it from a guy whose name is JC,

Yes JC, last name Tankersley in fact,

He was the one who pulled off the despicable act.

Deputies tracked down JC, who has a record of being horrid,

A quick check of a computer showed JC had an active warrant.

Off to jail JC would go, but what about Ramon?

There was no proof he wanted a stolen item for his home.

Deputies returned to Ramon, but before the conversation got started,

Ramon showed them he could be warm-hearted.

He fetched the sleigh featuring the Grinch and dog Max,

Handing it to deputies, saying please give this back,

Deputies paid the owners a visit to deliver their prize,

They looked on with amazement; not believing their eyes.

To think deputies would look into a crime so small, they thought, no, never,

But oh yes they would; especially if it makes it their best Christmas ever.
