January 12, 2023 – The Fresno County Sheriff's Office reported the following information. Homicide detectives with the Fresno County Sheriff’s Office are trying to learn more about the circumstances surrounding the death of 31-year-old Brittany Monique Degrise.
Around 4:30 P.M. on Tuesday, Fresno County Sheriff’s dispatchers took a call regarding a person found to be lying on the side of the road near a grape vineyard. Deputies responded to the location on S. Orange Ave., midway between Manning and Dinuba Avenues in Fresno. There they located a woman who was determined to be deceased. Evidence showed her injuries to be consistent with a homicide.
Homicide detectives responded to the scene along with members of our Crime Scene Unit. They gathered evidence and later identified her as Brittany Degrise.
During the course of the investigation, detectives determined Degrise was estranged from her family and a transient in the city of Fresno. Degrise was known to frequent the area of Tulare and First Streets in the city of Fresno. Detectives are seeking the public’s help in locating friends or people who may have known Brittany, along with the last time they may have seen her.
This remains an ongoing investigation. It marks the Sheriff’s Office second homicide investigation of 2023.
