Fresno Police Homicide Investigation Update

January 12, 2023 – The Fresno Police Department reported the following information. On Sunday, December 11, 2022, at 4:13 P.M., officers from the Southeast Policing District responded to an apartment complex in the 5100 block of East Lane Avenue regarding a shooting victim at the location. Officers arrived and located 42-year-old Bernardo Coronado, in the roadway, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds to the upper body. Fresno Fire and EMS responded to provide aid to Coronado, however he succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased on scene.

Through their investigation, homicide detectives identified 24-year-old Arthur Lopez as the person responsible for shooting Coronado. On Monday January 9, 2023, Lopez was seen leaving an apartment complex in the 2200 block of South Holly Avenue, where he was taken into custody a short distance away by plainclothes detectives.

Although an arrest has been made, detectives are asking anyone with information regarding this case to please call the Fresno Police Department.
