August 22, 2015 - CAL FIRE reports this morning over 11,000 firefighters are battling 16 active wildfires across California. The southern edge of a weak trough will be Northern California today, and then the high pressure ridge will return for the weekend. There won't be a lot of difference in the overall weather through the weekend with fairly light winds most areas. High pressure over the Desert Southwest will strengthen and shift slowly westward bringing a warming trend to Southern California through the end of next week. Widespread triple digit heat will occur across the inland valleys and foothills starting Monday. The large fire threat will become elevated next week due to hot and dry conditions. Fuels are extremely dry and will be very susceptible to new ignitions.

CAL FIRE recommends that all residents be prepared for wildfire by remembering “Ready, Set, Go!” The second step in “Ready, Set, Go!” is set. Being set consists of an emergency meeting location, a family communication plan, and escape routes. Now is the time to create a wildfire action plan and the entire family needs to be familiar with it well in advance of a wildfire. Learn how to create a wildfire action plan at  www.ReadyForWildfire.org.
