Moderate to heavy rain fell across the district yesterday with
thunderstorms as well. The front is pushing through the region and
we still have a few showers and thunderstorms attm. Once this
system moves through later this morning, we will get a brief
break in the precip before another weather maker moves in later
this afternoon and is forecast to continue through Monday
evening.

Latest QPF guidance is higher for Merced than the previous run.
We are now expecting another inch of rain across the Merced region
through Monday night. The values taper off to near zero over
western Kern County. Most areas north of Kern county will see
around one half inch of rain to less than a quarter of an inch in
Kern county. We are expecting 1.5 to 2 inches of rain below the
snow line of around 5000 feet in the Sierra foothills. We are
looking at 2 to 4 feet of new snow above 5000 feet starting later
this afternoon and continuing through Monday evening. Snowfall
rates could be as high as 2-3 inches per hour Monday morning for
several hours.

The storm system is forecast to move out of the region Tuesday.
NAM12 is indicating some upslope precip on Tuesday evening and
night, postfrontal across the north facing slopes of the Kern

in over the area. We are forecasting an inside slider to move
south along the east side of the Sierra. We are only looking at
light snow possible on Wednesday afternoon and evening. Winds may
