February 11, 2023 - Fresno Police Department officials report shortly after 1:30 am on Thursday, February 9, 2023, officers from the Southwest Policing District responded to the 300 Block of North Clark Avenue regarding a ShotSpotter activation with 18 rounds fired.

Officers and EMS personnel located 24-year-old Brody Witherell inside the residence and performed life-saving efforts. Witherell was transported to CRMC. Unfortunately, Witherell died shortly after arriving at the hospital.

Investigators determined that shots were fired into the residence, striking Witherell as he slept on the couch.

Detectives are currently interviewing neighbors and collecting video surveillance from the surrounding neighborhood. We are asking for the public’s help with information on those involved.
