February 12, 2023 - Merced – The Merced Police Department reported that Erik Lomeli (30) was arrested for negligent discharge of a firearm.
On Saturday, February 11th, 2023, at 7:43 P.M., officers were conducting a DUI investigation near W. 12th & Q Street when they heard three gunshots fired close to their location.
Officers went to the backyard of a residence in the 1000 block of W. 12th Street and saw Lomeli walking away from a firearm placed on top of a metal drum. Lomeli was detained and three casings were found on the ground near the firearm.
Lomeli admitted to discharging the firearm into the ground. The registered firearm was seized as evidence.
Lomeli was arrested for negligent discharge of a firearm and booked into custody at the Merced County Jail.
