Traffic Advisory 
Rest Area & Ramp Closures 
Interstate 5 and State Route 99 

February 17, 2023 - MERCED COUNTY – The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) will perform various closures on Interstate 5 (I-5) and State Route 99 for maintenance and construction operations. Work to occur as follows;

INTERSTATE 5:

• Full closure of the John C. Erreca Rest Areas on northbound and southbound I-5 beginning Monday, April 4, 2022, through July 2023.

          o ALTERNATE LOCATIONS: Motorists are advised to use either the Westley Rest Area (San Joaquin/Stanislaus County line) or the Coalinga-Avenal Rest Area (Fresno/Kings County line). Electric vehicle charging stations are available at the Westley Rest Area.

STATE ROUTE 99:

• Long-term full on-ramp closure from Childs Avenue to northbound SR-99 for construction through February 28, 2023.
  
  
• Full off-ramp closures from northbound SR-99 at Childs Avenue for construction beginning Wednesday, February 22, through Friday, February 24, 2023, from 8:00 p.m. until 5:00 a.m.
  
  
• Full on and off-ramp closures on southbound SR-99 at Childs Avenue for construction beginning Wednesday, February 22, through Friday, February 24, 2023, from 10:00 p.m. until 6:00 a.m.
  
  
• Full on-ramp closures from SR-140 East to northbound SR-99 for construction beginning Wednesday, February 22, through Friday, February 24, 2023, from 8:00 p.m. until 5:00 a.m.
  
  
• Long-term full off-ramp closure from northbound SR-99 to SR-140 East for construction through February 28, 2023.
  
  
• Full on and off-ramp closures at SR-140 East on southbound SR-99 for construction beginning Wednesday, February 22, through Friday, February 24, 2023, from 10:00 p.m. until 6:00 a.m.
  
  
• Full off-ramp closure from northbound SR-99 at 16th Street for construction beginning Wednesday, February 22, through Friday, February 24, 2023, from 8:00 p.m. until 5:00 a.m.
  
  
• Full on-ramp closure from 16th Street to southbound SR-99 for construction beginning Wednesday, February 22, through Friday, February 24, 2023, from 10:00 p.m. until 6:00 a.m.
  
  
• Long-term full off-ramp closure on northbound SR-99 at G Street for construction through March 24, 2023.
  
  
• Full on-ramp closure from G Street to southbound SR-99 for construction beginning Wednesday, February 22, through Friday, February 24, 2023, from 10:00 p.m. until 6:00 a.m.
  
  
• Long-term full on-ramp closure from SR-59/Martin Luther King Jr. Way to northbound SR-99 for construction through February 28, 2023.
  
  
• Full off-ramp closures from northbound SR-99 at SR-59/Martin Luther King Jr. Way for construction beginning Wednesday, February 22, through Friday, February 24, 2023, from 8:00 p.m. until 5:00 a.m.
  
  
• Full on and off-ramp closures on southbound SR-99 at SR-59/Martin Luther King Jr. Way for construction beginning Wednesday, February 22, through Friday, February 24, 2023, from 10:00 p.m. until 6:00 a.m.
  
  
• Long-term, full off-ramp closure from northbound SR-99 at R Street for construction through Tuesday, February 28, 2023.
  
  
• Full on-ramp closures from R Street to southbound SR-99 for construction beginning Wednesday, February 22, through Friday, February 24, 2023, from 10:00 p.m. until 6:00 a.m.
  
  
• Full on-ramp closures from SR-140/59 (V Street) to northbound SR-99 for construction beginning Wednesday, February 22, through Friday, February 24, 2023, from 8:00 p.m. until 5:00 a.m.
  
  
• Full off-ramp closures from southbound SR-99 at SR-140/59 (V Street) to for construction beginning Wednesday, February 22, through Friday, February 24, 2023, from 10:00 p.m. until 6:00 a.m.
  
  
• Full on-ramp closure from 16th Street Undercrossing to northbound SR-99 for construction beginning Wednesday, February 22, through Friday, February 24, 2023, from 8:00 p.m. until 5:00 a.m.
  
  
• Full on and off-ramp closures on southbound SR-99 at 16th Street Undercrossing for construction beginning Wednesday, February 22, through Friday, February 24, 2023, from 10:00 p.m. until 6:00 a.m.

Motorists should expect five to 10-minute delays. Alternate routes should be taken whenever possible.

This work is scheduled to begin as listed, but is subject to change due to traffic incidents, weather, availability of equipment, and/or materials and construction related issues.
