March 11, 2023 - LOS BANOS, Calif. – Reclamation, in partnership with the San Luis & Delta-Mendota Water Authority, announce a 30-day public comment period for the Draft General Conformity Determination associated with the B.F. Sisk Dam Raise and Reservoir Expansion Project. The determination was developed in accordance with requirements of Section 176(c) of the Clean Air Act.

Reclamation and the Authority are proposing to increase storage capacity in San Luis Reservoir. The additional storage capacity will provide greater operational flexibility and water supply reliability for south-of-Delta water users. The project would leverage existing construction work as part of the B.F. Sisk Dam Safety Modification Project by raising the dam an additional 10-feet, creating ~130,000 acre-feet of additional water storage in San Luis Reservoir.

The Draft General Conformity Determination details Reclamation and the Authority’s proposal to enter into a Voluntary Emissions Reduction Agreement with the San Joaquin Valley Air Pollution Control District to offset emissions from project construction.

The draft document is available at: https://www.usbr.gov/mp/nepa/nepa_project_details.php?Project_ID=44425. Contact Ben Wilson at 916-978-5483 or bwilson@usbr.gov if you have questions or need further assistance.
