March 11, 2023 – Atwater Police Department officials report that on March 11, 2023, at approximately 7:04 A.M., APD Dispatch received 911 calls advising of a traffic collision at the intersection of Green Sands Ave. and Camrose Street. Upon arrival officers found a single vehicle in the intersection with a Black male, in his 20's, in the driver's seat. The driver had a gunshot wound to the head. Lifesaving efforts were attempted but the subject was declared dead at the scene.

Preliminary investigation has indicated that the incident was not gang related. Officers are also trying to determine why the vehicle was at the intersection. No other motive is available at this time. The identity of the victim in this case is not being released pending notification of next of kin. No arrests have been made.

The investigation is ongoing, and the Atwater Police Department needs the public's help in gathering information related to this case.
