Closure updates and locations are below as of Wednesday, March 15, 2023, as of 9:00 a.m.; ALPINE COUNTY:
• Full highway closure of SR-89 at Laramie Street in Markleeville for slide removal. There is no ETO (Estimated Time Opening.)
AMADOR COUNTY:
• Full highway closure of SR-88 at Peddler Hill due to heavy snow. There is no ETO.
• One-way traffic control on SR-26 from Amador/Calaveras County line to Defender Grade Road for tree/slope work. There is no ETO.
MARIPOSA COUNTY:
• One-way traffic control on SR-49 at Bagby Vista Point for slide removal. There is no ETO.
• Full highway closure of SR-140 from Foresta Road to El Portal Road for slide removal. There is no ETO.
• Full highway closure of SR-140 from Bug Hostel to Cedar Lodge due slope inspection/work. There is no ETO.
• Full closure of eastbound SR-140 at the Yosemite National Park Boundary for snow removal. There is no ETO
MERCED COUNTY:
• Full highway closure of SR-59 from Dickenson Road/Mission Avenue to McNamara Road, south of Merced due to flooding near Mariposa Creek. There is no ETO.
SAN JOAQUIN COUNTY:
• All lanes now open on SR-120 from Brannan Road to McHenry Avenue for PG&E work (March 14, 2023, at 7:24 p.m.)
TUOLUMNE COUNTY:
• All lanes now open on SR-49 from Fairview Lane to Mill Villa Court in Sonora for slope repair. (March 13, 2023, at 1:35 p.m.)
• All lanes now open on SR-120 from Berkly Camp/Hardin Flat Road to South Fork Tuolumne Bridge following repair of roadway wash out. (March 14, 2023, at 7:11 a.m.)
CARSON PASS (SR-88):
• Carson Pass is currently OPEN. Intermittent, unscheduled closures are expected to continue for potential snow removal and avalanche control.
CARSON SPUR (SR-88):
• Carson Spur is currently CLOSED due to heavy snow. There is no ETO. Intermittent, unscheduled closures are expected for potential snow removal and avalanche control.
Road closures due to snow, flooding and rockslides in some areas are possible.
If you must travel, be prepared for winter driving conditions. In the mountains, always have chains, winterize your vehicle, and pack an emergency kit. Stay back and give our plows and first responders room to work safely. In wet weather, reduce speed and follow at a safe distance, inspect wipers, and replace if needed. Don’t use cruise control, check headlights, inflate tires to the correct pressures, check tread, and heed flood warnings and road closures.
