Also to note, yesterday that during the current reprieve from the rain and snow, the Madera County Office of Emergency Services encourages residents and homeowners to take these next few days to inspect their property and make necessary preparations for the next storm predicted early next week. Ensure necessary supplies are restocked and your emergency kits are ready.

As a reminder, caution needs to be taken after flood waters begin to recede. Although floodwaters may be down in some areas, many dangers still exist.

* Return home only when authorities indicate it is safe.

* Watch for debris, rocks and unstable trees that might be littered on or next to roadways or homes.

* Roadways and bridges may be undermined and unstable due to flood waters. If integrity of a road or bridge is in question, turn around.

* Remove flood debris from drainage areas and culverts when it is safe to do so.

* Flooding may have caused familiar places to change. Floodwaters often erode roads and walkways. Take caution!
