March 21, 2023 - The Mother Lode Art Association will host its 68^th Fine Art Show and Exhibition at the Sonora Opera Hall April 7^th through April 15^th.  The Sonora Opera Hall is located at 250 S. Washington Street, Sonora.  The public is welcome at no charge.

Proceeds from entry fees, art sales, silent auction and raffle sales go to support art education in area schools.

Juried by renowned artists Andrea Morris and Carolyn Macpherson, the event will showcase works of local and regional artists.  Also on display will be a selection of student art, selected from the Youth Art Show now on display at the Tuolumne County Library, art work by the Watch Resources Art Guild and Jamestown Ranch and award-winning photography from the Sonora Photo Club.

An opening reception will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Friday, April 7, with an award presentation at 6:00 p.m.  Appetizers and refreshments will be provided by the association and live music will be performed by the band Blue Oak.  Attendees have the opportunity to participate in a raffle and silent auction. Our Grand Raffle prize is an original oil painting from our Best of Show winner last year, J. Conn, and as an additional bonus, a watercolor painting donated by Barbara Young, winner of two awards last year, will also be raffled.  

The show will be open April 8^th from 10:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m. and will feature an oil painting demonstration by renowned artist, Heinie Hartwig, from 1:00 p.m. - 4:00 p.m. The show will also be opened Easter Sunday from 10:00  a.m. - 3:00 p.m. 

The City of Sonora and Visit Tuolumne will celebrate Art Week from April 10^th through April 16^th and as a registered participant, the Mother Lode Art  Association, will continue showing the 68^th Fine Art Show and Exhibition 10:00 a.m. - 7:00 p.m. daily through April 15^th.  Many exciting events have been planned during Art Week on the Opera Hall stage and also plein air artists painting throughout the city.
