March 27, 2023 - Fresno County Sheriff's Office officials report the man shot and killed on Saturday, March 25th, has been identified as 40 year old Paul Valenzuela of Kerman.

Around 5:50 pm on March 25th, Fresno County Sheriff’s dispatchers received a call regarding a disturbance involving a small group of people. This was taking place on private property (an orchard) located at W. Jensen and S. Yuba Avenues near Kerman. Deputies responded and contacted three men at the scene. The fourth person, Paul Valenzuela, had been shot and was deceased. Deputies detained the three people for questioning.

Homicide detectives and members of our Crime Scene Unit arrived on scene to conduct an investigation. No arrests have been made.

Detectives are preparing to turn this case into the Fresno County District Attorney’s Office for review.

Prosecutors will make a determination of whether or not the shooting was justified.
