April 7, 2023 - The MCHS Academic Boosters Club, in collaboration with the Mariposa County Chamber of Commerce, is hosting a new event for Mariposa County High School juniors and seniors called On the Right Track. Those who graduated from MCHS may remember something similar called Nitty Gritty City.
On the Right Track is like a life-sized game of Life. Students will be presented with real world scenarios and follow paths where they will interact with organizations that can meet their needs and provide support. Scenarios include things like how to open a bank account, take out a loan, search for an apartment, get insurance, get married, buy a house, handle a trip to the emergency room, go on a trip out of the country, and so much more.
This inaugural event will take place on Thursday, April 27, from 9:50 AM to 12:50 PM on the high school upper field.
On the Right Track offers an opportunity for our high school, business community, and county offices to come together to equip our young adults with the skills needed to successfully transition into the next phase of life and navigate through many of the situations, organizations, and agencies they are likely to encounter.
It will be a fun-filled learning experience as students engage with multiple organizations and businesses. The event will equip students with valuable resources and relationships that will empower them as they become responsible, productive members of society.
ABC and the Chamber of Commerce are seeking community partners to have booths and provide information at this event. ABC is also looking for sponsors. We will be providing valuable information for approximately 200 participating juniors and seniors. We will also be providing the students with lunch.
We see the importance of encouraging our youth to be active in the community and learn skills that will last a lifetime. We hope you will join us.
